I'm glad I found this article. Like many people, my default reaction is to shy away from uncomfortable truths and resist change. However, I agree that embracing truth and facing it with courage is key to living an authentic life.
Beautiful article, I felt it in my core while reading. And it’s so recognisable, ofcourse it is, because this is life how we most of us are living it. Ignoring the signs until you can’t ignore them any longer and the truth stares you right in the face.
Hi, Ayo. While planning my trip to the Glasgow 2024 World Science Fiction convention this coming August, I am now under treatment for breast cancer. I'm going to arrange my chemotherapy treatments so they finish a month before I fly out. I need to make sure I have some income besides my government pension between now and then too, or I'll end up maxing out my credit card just after I have paid it all off.
The anticipation of the fabulous time I will have on this trip is keeping my spirits up - I'll get to see and hug people I haven't seen in person for between 20 and 30 years, attend the premiere of a brand-new opera, dance till my shoes break, help prepare the convention's Souvenir Program, and support my friends at their program items and panel discussions. All that is worth a little discomfort in my opinion.
Thanks Ayo - such a timely article!
I have been dithering about my EBook.
'What should I write about?'
'What should the title be?"
Your article made it crystal clear -
'jI already know the answer' ✨
