"I don’t want to give content creation advice anymore."
I can relate to that a lot. I've been working online for most of my adult life. 25 years this fall. I used to want to help everyone. Took a lot of years to realize not everyone is ready or willing to be helped. Glad you're pivoting to something that lets you enjoy what you're doing again. In the long run, life is short. :)
Yeah I will still do it from time to time and I do have writing programs, etc, etc, but specifically for substack I want to use this platform to flex my creative muscles!!
So exciting! I remember the one where you have been writing the same post for so long because people don't listen to your advice. It's instant gratification syndrome- so many people don't want to put in the work
Good for you! You’ve never been one to be a boring writer. But I am sick of reading about content creation online so I can imagine you’re sick of writing it as well.
It's boring AF to be honest. I will keep a silo specifically for writing advice and still run those programs because I enjoy teaching writing, but I'm just not into the whole 'creator' vibe anymore.
I love this pivot, Ayo. With your experience, anything you share and write about from here on out will teach us about content creation. We can watch what you do, and how you do it, and discover new ideas.
Look forward to the pivot. I love learning but it’s hard to escape the endless stream of content creation advice. I’d much rather read about personal experiences and lessons learned.
You have to follow your energy - good for you. Convenient for me because lessons learned from your life is why I choose to follow people in the first place. Looking forward to it.
So excited for this for you! I have always been clear with myself that I am a writer, not a content creator. Often that means making less money, but this is my long-term career, not a race to a million followers. Welcome to the (slower and more sustainable) club of writers. If you want help with personal essays, you know I'm here for ya!
Love this so much! This ‘teaching’ and self-professed ‘experts’ is driving me crazy, lol. Looking forward to you being you and having fun with the process again. You’re leaving before the bubble bursts. So excited for your new journey! :)

Plenty of teaching will still go on inside of the writers league!
I can't wait to see what's next!
Thank you!
Hell yeah!
You're capable of becoming as good as Bukowski. Can't wait to see the evolution.
One of my favorite writers....high praise! Thank you so much.
Thrilled to see this!
Thanks Kim!

Thank you Khalid!
Here for it, can't wait for the pivot
Should be lots of fun. I really want to do some cool things on substack!

You said some people might tune you out because of this post.
Actually, you got me even more interested in listening to you because of what you wrote here.

Congrats, sounds like a smart move! Looking forward to reading more soon👍
I'm curious about what next.
Looking forward to the change. There's nothing wrong with getting back to what makes you happy.
